Volunteer to Rebuild Tiger Shark Cove Playground

Wellington is calling on residents to pitch in to rebuild one of the most-loved playgrounds in the community! Volunteers are needed from Wednesday, March 21st through Saturday, March 24th, 2012 to revamp the Tiger Shark Cove playground located at 13800 Greenbriar Boulevard. This community rebuild project falls during the Palm Beach County School District’s spring break, and high school students are encouraged to volunteer to earn community service hours. Individual volunteers must be at least 15 years old. Children ages 10 to 14 can volunteer on-site with a parent or guardian. Child care will be provided for children ages 5 to 9.

The design team at Leathers and Associates delighted the crowd at Wellington’s Celebration Day event on January 21st, 2012 by unveiling the playground’s new design. This exciting plan upgrades many of the original features, such as the sandcastle play structure, while adding new elements including a pirate ship themed play area.

Approximately 75 volunteers are needed each day to make this community build project a success. The volunteer application is available electronically in the Events section at www.wellingtonfl.gov. Minors who wish to volunteer are required to obtain parental consent. For additional information, contact Kim Henghold, Community Projects Manager, at (561) 791-4137 or via email at This e-mail address is being protected from spambots.
