2012Wellington Pursues Florida Green Building Certification
“Sustainable development is one of Wellington’s core values,” said Bill Nemser, Wellington’s Principal Planner. “This certification will recognize our efforts to go green, provide a platform to encourage improved practices and could potentially assist Wellington in obtaining future grants.”
The Green Local Government Standard is based on comprehensive qualifying criteria focusing on current and past actions to improve environmental performance through a number of mediums including energy, water, air, land and waste. This includes Wellington’s in-house environmental practices, incentives and local legislation to foster green practices as well as educational activities to help improve environmental awareness. A Green Local Government Standard designation will demonstrate Wellington’s commitment to improving our environment and functioning in a more cost-effective and efficient manner.
