2012Wellington Responds to Today Show Story Taped in Wellington
After receiving phone calls from concerned parents, Wellington staff checked with the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office and discovered that there has not been a single reported incident of car surfing in Wellington. We also spoke with the Today Show production crew and learned that Wellington was chosen for this story because it was a convenient meeting point for the production crew and the reporter. This story unnecessarily alarmed our residents and implied that this very dangerous activity was problematic in Wellington. As a community, we do not understand why the Today Show, MSNBC and MSN chose to characterize Wellington in such a bad light. We have contacted the Today Show about our concerns.
