Throughout Florida City Government Week, Wellington City leaders encourage residents to learn about the community's amenities by visiting http://www.youtube.com/mywellingtonfl. Wellington's YouTube channel currently features exciting and informative videos about the community's Safe Neighborhoods Initiative, Open Wellington, Town Center, and the Wellington Environmental Preserve at the Marjory Stoneman Douglas Everglades Habitat. Wellington broadcasts these videos locally on Channel 18.
Wellington will also use Florida City Government Week to encourage students to become involved in local government by participating in the shadow government program offered through the local schools. Additionally, a representative of Council will be a guest speaker at Wellington Landings Middle School to discuss civics.
Sponsored by the Florida League of Cities (FLC), Florida City Government Week is a special time to recognize the important role city government plays in our lives. This is a great opportunity for residents of all ages to become more informed about their local government and to get a better understanding about the benefits of public service.
