Ms. Benacquisto was elected to the Council in March 2001 and again in March 2006. She served as Vice Mayor from March 2004 to March 2006. Ms. Benacquisto has a long history of community involvement beginning with the organization of a turn-key community outreach program to design and construct a “Leathers Playground” based on a concept of extensive community participation – both physically and financially.

Ms. Benacquisto has championed a number of innovative programs in the Village including the Arts in Public Places Program in addition to numerous educational initiatives. She has served on the board of many organizations and was selected to serve on the American Council of Young Political Leaders as a delegate to South Africa in 2004.
