Wellington CELEBRATES FLORIDA CITY GOVERNMENT WEEK

Wellington, along with other cities across Florida is participating in Florida City Government week from October 18th through 24th, sponsored by the Florida League of Cities. The theme this year is “My City: I’m part of it, I’m Proud of It.” Florida City Government week is a very special time to recognize the important role played by city government in our lives, most importantly, it is a time to spread the word to all Florida citizens that they are an integral part of the government.

Throughout Florida City Government week, there will be educational information on how city government works at Wellington at each of our facilities. The Village will host an Open House on Tuesday, October 20, 2009 at the Safe Neighborhoods Office, 1100 Wellington Trace from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Residents are welcomed to visit there and see the variety of services offered and will have an opportunity to get involved in upcoming projects. Also, local teens will have an opportunity to volunteer at the annual Fall Festival. The Fall Festival is a community event that will take place on Saturday, October 24, 2009 from 5 – 10 p.m.

This is a great opportunity for Wellington residents of all ages to become more informed about their local government and to receive a better understanding of public services and their benefits. During this week, it is Wellington’s goal to heighten awareness and encourage residents to find out more about services we offer, programs they may be interested in and volunteering opportunities available.
