Help Wellington Win in the Cans for Cash Contest

Wellington is participating in the national Cans for Cash™ City Recycling Challenge sponsored by the United States Conference of Mayors, Novelis Corporation and Keep America Beautiful, Inc. The national contest awards a $5,000 prize to the top cities in four population based categories that collect the most aluminum beverage cans from October 1-31, 2009.

Wellington is the first municipality in Palm Beach County to register to participate in the contest. This will be a joint effort of the Village and the Wellington Citizens Volunteer Organization (CVO) and involves local businesses and communities as well as Village employees and facilities.

Beginning October 1st, residents wishing to participate in the program can drop off aluminum cans at one of three locations: the Safe Neighborhood Office located at 1100 Wellington Trace, Village Park located at 11700 Pierson Road and the Village Community Center located at 12165 West Forest Hill Boulevard.

As part of the Cash for Cans effort, the Village’s Go Green Team and CVO have established a competition between schools with prizes, donated by Jet Hauling, awarded to the top three local schools.

By participating in this nationwide recycling effort the Village helps to cultivate community support for recycling initiatives while continuing to establish itself as a sustainable community and a great home town!

Save and recycle your aluminum beverage cans. Letʼs prove we have the best recycling program in the country! For more information about recycling, visit www.swa.org.
